BSS B2B Lock enforces storefront restrictions (hiding prices, gating collections, locking whole pages) through lightweight Liquid snippets integrated into your Shopify theme.

If you decide to pause usage or uninstall BSS B2B Lock from your Shopify admin while lock rules remain enabled:

The injected theme code may continue executing on your storefront without the app to govern it.
Pages, prices, or checkout buttons might remain locked or display unrendered placeholder messages to shoppers.

Theme Cleanup provides the official, fail-safe mechanism to deactivate 100% of lock rules across all themes, restoring open public access before app removal.

2. How You Get Pointed to Theme Cleanup

To ensure merchants never overlook this step, BSS B2B Lock includes three touchpoints:

Left Navigation Menu: The Theme Cleanup tab is permanently accessible in the app’s sidebar.
First-Lock Creation Guidance Modal: The very first time you create and save a Lock rule in your store, an onboarding guidance modal appears:

“Lock created successfully! Code is added to your theme for store protection: it’s 100% safe and won’t affect your store’s performance. Whenever rules are no longer needed, you HAVE TO disable all rules in Theme Cleanup page…”
Lock Rules List Alert Banner: A top reminder banner appears on the main Lock Rules List table for existing stores, providing a direct 1-click link to the Theme Cleanup screen.

3. Understanding Live Protection States

When you open Theme Cleanup, the app automatically audits your themes and presents one of two live operational states:

4. How to Disable All Rules (Step-by-Step)

Follow these steps when you plan to uninstall the app, migrate themes, or reset all storefront restrictions:

In Shopify Admin, open BSS B2B Lock.
Click Theme Cleanup in the left navigation menu.
Check your status. If rules are active, click the primary button: Disable all rules.
A safety confirmation modal appears:

“Are you sure? Disabling all rules deactivates 100% of Lock protections in all themes and opens your store content to everyone.”
Click Disable all rules to confirm (or Cancel to keep your protections).

What Happens Behind the Scenes:

Disables all rules: The status of every rule in the app is switched from Enabled to Disabled.
Empties rules in target theme: The app rewrites the snippet on your active/target theme so that no locks are triggered, while leaving core structural templates intact.
Strips non-target themes: For all duplicate, draft, or secondary themes containing app snippets, the system removes the injected layout/theme.liquid include lines and helper snippets.
Success Toast: A green confirmation alert notifies you: “All rules have been disabled across your themes.” The page refreshes to display the clean state (“No rules are active on your theme”).

5. Why Harmless Code Stays Behind (And Full Removal)

After completing a cleanup:

A tiny snippet shell may remain in your active theme’s files.
This remaining code is completely dormant and harmless: it does not execute any checks, makes zero network requests, and has 0% impact on store loading speed or performance.
