Let Only Approved Dealers See Prices and Buy

You can keep prices and the Add to cart button hidden until a dealer is approved. Two apps share the work:

  • BSS B2B Solution collects the application, lets you approve it and adds a customer tag.
  • BSS B2B Lock reads that tag and decides who sees prices and can add to cart.

BSS B2B Solution gives approved dealers their wholesale prices. It does not hide prices or block purchases from other visitors, so the lock comes from BSS B2B Lock.

What you need

  • BSS B2B Solution with a registration form. See Build a powerful wholesale registration form.
  • BSS B2B Lock installed on the same store.
  • The BSS B2B Lock Advanced plan. The “Price and add to cart” lock needs it. On the Free plan, locks cover the entire store only.

Step 1: Add a tag when you approve a dealer

  1. In BSS B2B Solution, open B2B customers > Registration Forms and edit your form.
  2. In the Tags card, fill in Assign tag when customer is approved, for example wholesale.
  3. Save and publish the form.

Every customer you approve now gets that tag in Shopify. Test it once: submit a test application, approve it, then open the customer in Shopify and check the tag.

Step 2: Hide prices and Add to cart for everyone else

  1. In BSS B2B Lock, go to Locks > Add lock rule, choose Create my own lock and click Continue.
  2. In Step 1 - Lock Target, open What do you want to lock? and choose Price and add to cart.
  3. Under Restricted products, pick All product, or limit the lock By tags, By collections or Specific products.
  4. Under What do you want to hide?, choose Hide price, then Hide Add to cart or Disable Add to cart. Or choose Keep price visible, hide Add to cart if visitors may see prices but not buy.
  5. Click Next.

Step 3: Let tagged customers through

  1. In Step 2 - Access & Message, click User type in the Rule 1 card.
  2. Choose Tagged customers - Must have specific tags and enter the same tag, for example wholesale.
  3. On the Preview card, click Customize message and write the text visitors see in place of the price, for example “Log in with your approved wholesale account to see prices.”
  4. Click Save.

Step 4: Close the shortcuts

  • Buy it now button. In BSS B2B Lock open Checkout Lock > Hide payment methods and tick Hide dynamic checkout buttons on product page. Tick the cart page option too if you need it. This needs the Advanced plan.
  • Google results. Tick Hide price on Google search if prices must not appear in search results. Your store must be public, and Google can take up to 24 hours to update.
  • Checkout. A price lock hides prices and buttons on the storefront. To stop the purchase at checkout itself, add a Checkout Lock rule. Checkout Lock needs the BSS B2B Lock Advanced plan.

Test it

  1. Open your store in a private window. You should see the lock message instead of prices.
  2. Log in with an approved dealer account. You should see prices and the Add to cart button.
  3. Log in with a customer who has no tag. You should see the lock message.
